Floyd ticket news, coming up "R.E.M." and a classic Sunday Blues Show.
Dear Live Music Fan

A few things to mention this week, so draw up a chair….

This show has been more than sold out for a few weeks now but there have been a few cancellations and if you book I MIGHT have some late availability so can I suggest you book as normal and I will see what I can do. I can fine tune up until about noon on Friday, thereafter for any very late availability you will need to have a look at the web site.

IF YOU HAVE A RESERVATION then NOW is the time to adjust is as required if you, or members of your party, find it is not possible to attend. Those who have booked and then do not turn up WILL stop somebody else from coming.

Can I remind you that we will start at 9.30 p.m. SHARP and the planned finish time is around 1 a.m. and the bar will close very soon after the music ends.

Book now at http://www.tropicatruislip.co.uk/ebook/index.htm or your usual web links and I will see what I can do but this will ONLY be if I get cancellations as technically it is still sold out.

As it says on the web site:

R.E.M. by Stipe - R.E.M. recreated. Playing hits like Losing my Religion and the ever relevant It’s the End of the World Stipe are regular visitors to the festival scene, leading venues and with gigs into Europe. Stipe have earned the praise of “awesome” from R.E.M.’s own lead singer Michael Stipe.

This is the definitive tribute to one of the biggest sounds in rock and they’ve performed the songs of R.E.M. to thousands of people worldwide.

“Where this band succeeds is in the accuracy of the sound ... the lead singer looks the part, his voice is a fairly uncanny likeness of Michael Stipe’s …the other musicians also create a brilliant rendition of the songs, fully convincing and delivered with confidence.” - Platinum Al

R.E.M. was one of the first alternative rock bands. To hear Stipe’s sets live is to fall in love with this music, for the first time or all over again.

It has been some 18 months since this band stunned us with their show on their first visit to us and I for one am looking forward to their return.

The weeks leading up to Xmas can be strange where gigs are concerned as there are a lot of "office parties" at this time, and for this reason (I think) we are not looking that busy so if you are not out with colleagues then can I recommend you catch this great band that will NOT return in 2020. I MIGHT even do it seated….

Book now at http://www.tropicatruislip.co.uk/ebook/index.htm or your usual web links. If you miss them the are at The 100 Club for about 150% of what a ticket will cost at Tropic' in February next year.

Blues At The Tropic Christmas gig, Sunday 15th December with The John Verity Band

It is not often that a guitarist plays the Tropic stage having such music credentials as ex Argent guitarist and vocalist John Verity. After an early career playing R&B and Chicago style blues, John joined Argent in 1973 and toured and recorded extensively until 1976 when Argent disbanded. He went on to form Phoenix with Argent's Bob Henrit and Jim Rodford, followed by a spell producing a plethora of rock giants.

Here's what Guitarist Magazine says:  “Well seasoned chops from a Brit Bluesman - A veteran who shared stages with Hendrix, Mountain, Janis Joplin and others.... The star attraction here is Verity’s unhurried, classy phrasing..... It’s interesting how he phrases his vocal in a similar way to his guitar licks-creating a call and response interplay between the two that heightens each track. Classic blues guitar with a twist of forward thinking”

At the Christmas gig, you will be treated to Argent's 'Hold Your Head Up' and 'God Gave Rock And Roll To You' plus John Verity's crafted original blues/rock songs and his take on classic blues and rock tunes.

Being in the festive spirit, we have a Christmas Raffle with prizes which include a signed electric guitar by John Verity. You will be able to buy raffle tickets at the gig and remember if you have raffle tickets from the previous gig, you have to be at The John Verity gig to be in with a chance of winning.

Book now at http://www.tropicatruislip.co.uk/ebook/index.htm or your usual web links where tickets are only £10 pre-booked or £12 on the door.

Please note this show will have an early start with music from 8.15 p.m. sharp and a planned finish around 10.30.

I am delighted to welcome back FREE'S COMPANY who will bring us, unsurprisingly, the music of Free and Band Company on Friday 7th August 2020. They were very good when they graced us back in 2018.

The following gigs are booking well:-

BRINGING ON BACK THE 80'S - Still sold out

SLADE UK - 13 spaces remaining

THE ROLLIN STONED - 22 spaces remaining

THE BOHEMIANS (Queen) - 6 spaces remaining

All other dates are showing decent availability as I type but a high demand is envisaged for:-

Rod and the Facez

Hats Off To Led Zeppelin

Absolute Bowie

and an early booking is advised for these shows.

Matching Mole: Little Red Record

Richie Havens: Mixed Bag

We were not packed for this show sadly and it was decided to do it part-seated which seemed to find favour, so much so that quite a few people added more seats to the dance floor, which meant it was a little cramped towards the back - you cannot win them all!

Anyway I thought the band put on a terrific show. If you liked the guitar playing I can tell you that their lead guitarist will return on 26th June as he is now playing with Johnny Warman's Magic Bus.

As I type there is no date in the diary for Guitar Legends to return, and I should like to thank all those that attended.

I think that is all

See you soon
